From 88 (1982 four cylinder) to 580 (new ZL1) in a Camaro

The base engine for the Mustang II was a 2.3-liter four-cylinder rated at a weak 102 horsepower. The optional 2.8-liter V6 was rated marginally better at 119 horsepower.

and yeah, the Corvette was drastically let down by it's creator in the mid 70s, a 1977 Dodge Aspen could kick it's ass (77 Corvette, it's a fact, look it up). In 1982 you could get one with a hatchback, from the factory.

  1. The horsepower of today's Camaro and Corvette are even more impressive if you consider that the 1960s and early 1970s were reported as gross hp, without accessories attached. Today's numbers are net hp.

(Not considering the under-rated hp figures on some of the most radical engines in the past)

    1. Very good point, those old figures in the 60s were under estimated for insurance and racing class purposes
